"The skin is the deepest thing there is" Paul Valèry.
David Catá (1988) works with the body, memory and time. He sews himself and he introduces portraits of people under his skin. Reveals traces of those who we are stuck with and those who we love.
The skin acts as a canvas where we weave the beings that we tattooed on our soul. The skin is the border territory between moods, offal, flesh, and the others who touch, hurt and beat us and they finally model our being.
Let me fly is the latest project of David Catá where intervention shifts from his body body into the body of the others, nailing them with dandelion flower seeds. Who has not experienced the emotional celebration of a landscape by blowing a dandelion and making a wish while its seeds are spread by the wind? Who has not recovered lost childhood flashes observing dandelion seeds flying away? Life is like flying dandelion and we will only be while remain in the memory of those who have known us.
Facing Davíd Catá´s pictures we can participate in that last Barthian thought. His images have "punched" us -such is the action of the punctum-, and infallibly we go beyond the unreality of the thing that it is represented.
